Coin History
The second issue in the U.S. Half Cent series, the 1794 is also the premier delivery of the Liberty Cap design with the obverse portrait facing right.  The Mint employed nine die marriages to produce 81,600 examples.  Walter Breen (1983) has provided a breakdown for this total based on the delivery dates from the chief coiner:
-February 22, 1794: 10,000 pieces
-June 4, 1794: 16,000 pieces
-June 26, 1794: 16,000 pieces
-June 27, 1794: 16,000 pieces
-July 8, 1794: 23,600 pieces
The first four deliveries are thought to have comprised examples of the "Normal Head" variety as listed in the 2008 edition of the reference
A Gudie Book of United States Coins
by R.S. Yeoman.  By default, therefore, the final batch of 1794 Half Cents was made up of coins that display Liberty's portrait in high relief.
